macOS: allow Bypass
How to open the unsigned Mac build via Privacy & Security when Gatekeeper blocks Bypass.
The macOS build of Bypass is unsigned (not notarized by Apple). The first time you open it, macOS Gatekeeper will warn that Bypass cannot be opened or is from an unidentified developer. That is expected — follow the steps below to allow it.
Install from the DMG
- Download the latest macOS
.dmgfrom GitHub Releases - Open the disk image
- Drag Bypass into your Applications folder
- Eject the DMG, then open Bypass from Applications (not from the mounted disk image)
Allow Bypass in Privacy & Security (recommended)
When macOS blocks the app:
- Open System Settings (or System Preferences on older macOS)
- Go to Privacy & Security
- Scroll to the Security section
- You should see a message that Bypass was blocked — click Open Anyway
- Confirm Open in the dialog that appears
Bypass should launch normally after that.
Right-click Open (fallback)
If Open Anyway is not shown yet:
- In Finder, open Applications
- Control-click (or right-click) Bypass
- Choose Open
- Click Open again in the confirmation dialog
This works on older macOS versions that still use the right-click → Open flow.
If macOS says Bypass is "damaged"
Some downloads are quarantined and show that Bypass is damaged and can't be opened. Open Terminal, clear the quarantine attribute, then try again:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Bypass.app
Open Bypass from Applications again. If Gatekeeper still prompts, use Open Anyway under Privacy & Security as above.
After updates
macOS may ask you to allow Bypass again after an update or a fresh install of a new version. Repeat Open Anyway once per version if that happens.
Need help?
If Bypass still will not open after these steps, email support or ask in Discord with your macOS version (Apple Silicon or Intel) and the exact error text.
